About The Founder
At just 23 years old, AnJanae Hargrove, a dedicated Omaha native and proud Black mother, is a remarkable catalyst for change within her community. With a Bachelor's degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice and minor in Black Studies, she possesses a profound insight into the social challenges faced by marginalized groups. Her roles as a Youth Attendance Navigator at The Urban League of Nebraska and as a Perinatal/Postpartum Community Health Worker at Momentum Park: SHERO underscore her unwavering commitment to advocacy and empowerment. As a first-generation college student, AnJanae's passion drives her to be an outstanding founder of the Empowerment Project, where she strives to uplift and inspire others in building a brighter future.

This educational background equips me with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the systemic issues faced by marginalized communities. As the founder of The Empowerment Project, I leverage this expertise to better assist my clients, guiding them toward positive change and resilience. My commitment to justice and equality drives our mission to uplift and empower individuals in their journeys.

During my school years, I was lucky to have an exceptional teacher who identified my potential and challenges. She introduced me to the UNO/OPS Middle College Program. Her faith in my capabilities opened doors to invaluable opportunities that changed the trajectory of my life. With her support, I consequentially earned over 20 college credits, saved my family thousands in tuition, and thrived in an environment that finally academically challenged me, enabling me to graduate early. This experience exemplifies how connecting individuals to essential resources can create transformative opportunities, shaping futures and leaving a lasting positive impact.
Current Certifications
My certifications in Mental Health First Aid, BLS, CPR, and Trauma Informed Care enable me to provide quality services with confidence and proficiency. They provide me with crucial skills to identify and address mental health emergencies, deliver immediate life-saving assistance, and offer compassionate support to those who have faced trauma. By incorporating these certifications into my work, I can foster a safe and nurturing space for those in need ultimately improving their well-being.

How It All Began
AnJanae Hargrove is a devoted mother and community advocate dedicated to closing the racial gap in education and the economy within North Omaha. As a first-generation minority college graduate, she is well aware of the obstacles her community faces. For years, AnJanae has focused on offering hands-on tutoring, career skills development, and application support to help individuals create better futures. In 2025, she looks forward to officially launching The Empowerment Project, turning her passion into a successful business that will uplift even more people in her community.
